deactivate old to get activation for new :o(

Hi there
I hope someone from pixologic is reading this forum :o)
or is it better to write a ticket at pixologic website? Maybe later

First: I really love Zbrush! I really do.
But there is one thing I do not understand:

Its great to get updates for free! But with new updates there are always new bugs. Bugs, that may not have bothered me in older versions. SO if the new version does not work properly I would switch to the old one, create what I want and than go back to the new version. But by deactivating the old version to get an activation for the new one it is not possible to use the old version anymore. Why not just create a new activation code without having to deactivate the old one???

Thanks in advance
Hilmar

When ZBrush is activated, it looks at several things on your system to calculate a unique machine ID. Your activation is linked to that ID. Among other things, this allows situations like: Something causes ZBrush to lose its activation. You reactivate and the system is able to see that this is the same computer. It then creates a new activation code without deducting another activation from the serial number.

The current version of ZBrush calculates the machine ID differently. As a result, ZBrush 4R3 will count as another activation even on the same computer. For that reason, we ask people to deactivate the old version before upgrading to the new.

However, if you would like to have both versions available to you, you certainly can do that. Just be aware that they will both be seen by the system as being on different machines. As a result, you will not be able to have ZBrush on a second computer without needing to deactivate one of the two versions on this computer.

Also, be aware that while 4R3 can open files made in the earlier versions, those versions cannot open files made in 4R3. The exception is using the OBJ format rather than ZTL, ZPR or ZBR.
