It appears as if this Christmas day was an incident filled one for a lot of us. My wife broke her leg while saveing the life of my grandson. I am so grateful that she only had a broken leg, as a car ran right over her. I brought her home from the hospital last night. The doctors say the cast should be on her leg for at least two months.
I just thought I would share this incident with the group.
Deevee sounds as if you are fortunate in many ways. For one a selfless, courageous companion, and two; all involved safe with one to be well.
Still not a good way to spend christmas though.
I had to smile at your recent comments re my pictures. I’m glad you enjoy them. I note you haven’t posted images for a while…that I feel…needs to be remedied, because those that I have seen are wonderful to view, and to understand.
All the best for the new year Deevee.
this story, though terrible, sounds like a christmas-miracle, DeeVee… what a
wife! a true guardian angel, who does not think twice… but her own g.a. seems to have had a tough job an christmas day, too
may the doctor be wrong and the broken leg be healing within half of the predicted time as a reward for her selflessness! good luck to you and the rest of your family, DeeVee: may all of 2002 be as fantastico for all of you, as the end of 2001 was shocking

What a story your grandson will have for his children.
I know we’ve talked already about this, but just rereading the story makes me want to say again, give your hero my best!
She must heal quickly, she has you to take care of her.
Thanks so much for your kind words of support. She is a tough old bird at 66, I think not being as mobile as she would like to be has affected her more than the pain of the broken leg. I will pass on your comments to her.
I’m sorry to hear of all this too, DeeVee, and please give my best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery.
Sound like you married a winner!!! May God give her a speedy recovery…Happy New Years

Heroes come in all shapes sizes and ages…I hope Mrs.DeeVee has a big S on her shirt for SuperGrandmother…
My heart goes out to you. I snapped my tib fib a few years ago. It was pinned. I don’t know what sort of a break it is but for me I was told I would be walking in 6 weeks and I wouldn’t know it was broken in 3 months.
If they had told me the truth it would have made it much easier. I would have much rather known from the beginning that it takes 18 months to 2 years for this type of break. I was extemely concerned because they lied to me.
It could have easily been much worse, broken hips etc. Sounds like two people had a lot of grace that day.
Thanks Folks. Marva is doing very well. Her only complaint is the weight of the cast. She was never a complainer so I just help when requested. After 37 years, it has become very intuitive. It is a Tib/Fib break. I saw the x-rays, the bones remained aligned with the Tib off about 5 degrees so no pinning was necessary.
Your thoughts and comments have helped a lot.
Things like this is what makes this forum so special, as someone mentioned it is like an extended family.
Happy New Year Everyone and Good Health.
DeeVee
