I just had to over to renderosity and rate Adman’s “My Favorite Tool” since some moron decided to give it a 5 and post something COMPLETELY unrelated in the comments section. GRRRRRRRRR!

I especially like it when some “Expert” shows up on someone’s image and spouts off. Then you go to look at thier gallery to see if they have any credibility and guess what? Not an image to be found.
As I grow older I am finding I like most people less and less. Whether it is someone driving irresponsibly on the road, parked crooked in a parking space, posting idiotic dribble on a forum or Art Gallery etc… And you know what? If you respond to them it just feeds whatever lame excuse they have for an existance.

It’s a true pity to see such a great piece vanish in the rankings because some nitwit.
I couldn’t vote again, but I did come across something interesting recently that I posted into the messages at the gallery:
“Adman, you’ve done a phenomenal job of not only recreating a masterpiece in the digital medium, but also injecting a modern personality into the scene. I recommend that everyone check out “Nicolaes Ruts” by Rembrandt, painted in 1631. It brings a whole new appreciation to this modern masterpiece!”
I’d been a huge fan of this piece by Adman before. But when I discovered the original and compared the two, my appreciation doubled.
It’s a shame. Most of the trolls that I’ve come across on artistic forums don’t have as much talent in their little fingers than the artists they insult. I strongly believe jealousy is what drives them.
That guy, with his non-sequiter comments and ridiculous rating is a disgrace, and I would encourage all members of this forum to go there and counterbalance this idiots effect on Admans ratings…the guy is a great artist and deserves better than this!
Aww, gee… schucks. You guys are great. I keep hearing this line in my head, “but what have you done for me lately?” I’ll see what I can contribute to this forum in the months ahead. My new baby girl is taking up all of my free time (of course, I’m not complaining). 
A little history on “My Favorite Tool” at Renderosity:
A while back someone had given it a score of 7. I thought, “oh well, it was fun while it lasted.” Just figured it was a matter of time. Then, a couple days later I took another look and the 7 ranking and comment had been deleted! I was back. So, about a month ago, another character gives me a ranking of 1 and a comment that made little sense. So I sent an instant message to this person basically stating, “I don’t care that I’m not given a ten, at least have the guts to explain yourself.” We’ll, they ended up deleting the rank and reposted what is up there now. I managed to “campaign” for a higher rank, but the comment is well… you’ve seen it.
Anyway, thanks again. This is an incredible Forum. Kindness and critisizm (the constructive kind) at its finest!

adman you rock. yours was the second pic I saw in this forum. I was so charmed!! now is certainly the time I paid back the favour and vote for it.
anyway. these things happen. I got the same thing in one of my renderosity posts - a mediocre rating, and from then on no ratings at all. am I to suppose renderosity’s critical comments do not represent the truth, but rather the mala-fide views of a few envious persons without artistic credit?
I do not mind so much, because my work probably isn’t up to any high standards yet, and because ither people’s comments are only guidelines on how one works, not the goal, but still, it’s a bummer…

Anyway, people will be happy to know that the offending ranking has been deleted from Renderosity on the basis that the comment had nothing whatsoever to do with the picture.

Don’t forget the other ZB’rs out there toying with the number one ranking – LeDiscot, TheSaint, Pixolator, and (insert your name here). And speaking of inspiration for illustration in general, check out this piece. What this person can do in 2d is something to strive for using ZBrush.

Let’s not forget Renderosity is the site where you can post a “picture” then have a line of credits to OTHER people that is longer than your “picture”.
