This happened a couple of times to me, actually. IIRC, pressing ctrl and dragging on the canvas solved it.

yes but its not masked

Try turning off Edit (T) and ckeck that RGB Intensity is set to 100. If it’s not, set it to 100 and then turn on Edit again.

will definitely try that

ok scratch that, i tried, doesn’t work, i will upload the file for anyone to view here it is

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ry84kyn0zko17zx/head7.ZTL?dl=0

Looking at the uploaded ZTL file, I think the polypaint somehow became corrupted in the ZTL itself (possible Zbrush bug.)

The usual fix for this is fill the object with the “flat shader” material with mrgb on and white color selected.

I tied this and the object seems to take the shader, but not the color info (the “rgb” part) which remains stubbornly near black. (Oddly the preview on the tool pallet looks correct.)

My quick fix:

Fix 1. Open Zbrush as starting a new model from scratch. Select the Cylnder3D primitive and turn on edit (T). Now load your ZTL file with the dark model. Turn on “mrgb”, select the flat color shader, white color, and use “fill object” from the color menu (which will fill it your head sculpt with no shader info and white.) Now pick a regular 3D shader like matcap red wax or one of the clay shaders. Things should look normal. If this fails, try fix 2 (below)

Fix 2. export the subtool as a .obj at its highest level, close/open Zbrush, and re-import. Use Reconstuct SubDiv on the geometry subpallet to restore the lower levels. This (almost) never
fails.

Save the new ZTL.
HTH,
-K

  1. Turn off Edit mode.
  2. Turn on MRGB.
  3. Turn on Edit mode.

That will solve it.

thanks alot! will definately try this

wow just turning off edit mode then mrgb and then edit mode fixed it! amazing
