Damaged the Dam_Standard brush via stupidity... (resolved)

I admit, I was an idiot - I didn’t look or read, and did NOT know the Dam_Standard brush was part of ZB 4.0. Yes, I did a dumb thing, I attempted to add an old version of the DS brush to ZB 4, and apparantly ended up rendering said brush moderately useless.

It now acts like the Standard brush. I can’t figure out how to fix it. Is there anyone that can help me, or do I also need to ask for the filename of the ZB4 installer so I can dig THAT out, and reinstall ZB4?

Could you post a screencap of you using it?

Sure, but gimme a few. It’ll look just like me using Standard, BTW, not like Dam_Standard looked in earlier versions…

Okay, after taking the screenie, I can say it doesn’t look like the Standard brush - but it ALSO doesn’t look like the OLD Dam Standard brush. >.< I’ll post the screenie in a few moments.

Okay, the screenie has the Dam Standard on top, and the standard on bottom. The little diagram has how it seems to be behaving. Top is how the Standard brush behaves, middle is how DS is behaving now, and bottom is how it USED to behave - and I wish it still would.

Quick note - does this mean the behaviour HAS changed, or have I just screwed up a setting somewhere?

It doesn’t look like the Dam Standard brush is selected there. It just says standard.

Anyway, when you put the old Dam Standard in Zbrush 4, did it tell you if you wanted to overwrite a file that was already there? Or maybe you put it in a different folder.

Check for the dam standard brush via spotlight > brushes.

It says standard because I had just drawn the second (bottom) stroke there.

And I’ll do that right now.

EDIT: Erm… WHERE is “Spotlight>Brushes”? Can’t seem to find it.

He meant Lightbox, not spotlight (I make that mistake as well sometimes.)

Browse for the brushes via Lightbox.

Ahah.
Did that, it’s there, but still has that same behaviour.

This is HIGHLY irritating, I don’t want to have to go back to 3.5 to sculpt. I use DS waaaay too much. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where did you put the old Zbrush Dam Standard? Did you overwrite the Dam Standard already in Z4 or did you put the old DS somewhere else? Here’s Z4’s DStandard, try replacing it, see if it works.

I had apparantly overwritten the original one.

Note: THANK YOU, Znub! I copied that into the proper directory, and it now behaves properly again! Back to work I go!

No problem :D.
