Cutting holes in my model

First of all, I am a total beginner with ZBrush (I worked with Blender before).
I currently work on recreating an old greek “Tragedy Mask” in ZBrush:

Now my problem is that I don’t know how to cut holes for the eyes and the mouth. When I mask the areas, invert and hide, I just get some 2D edges.
How should I do the cutting?

look into dynamesh or the curve bridge brush.

both of these have videos in the zclassroom.

I got the concept of that Bridge Curve Brush and tried it. However, it won’t really work as I have some nasty edges because of the cutting.

Do you know how I can get rid of these?

You may not need to cut out the holes, dependis on what you plan to do with it. Show polyFrame and you can select/hide unwanted bits then delete hidden in the geometry pallette.

That’s what I did. I created a mask over the parts, inverted it, hid it and deleted the hidden parts.

Easier way would have been to draw a mask on the part you wanted and then use ExtracT to a new subtool. I posted a macro. It uses default settings, you can test at the bottom of the subtool panel before hitting the button there.

Thank you sooooo much, that was exactly what I needed
