CurveTube problems

I am following a video tutorial and the author created a CurveTube that he anchored at one end and then wrapped around a cylinder. He then pushed the tube towards the cylinder before pulling its other end.

I tried the same thing, but every time I touched the tube - it exploded in size. I checked and I had all the same preferences (as far as I can tell) so what am I doing wrong?

I am including three screenshots from his tutorial and the fourth is what happens when I try to do the same thing.

So…which one is the one that you did?

The bottom right one - the one with the really thick tube.

I am a little confused. The pict should have 4 images. Which it does when I look at my post. But I see a thumbnail also with three images (it was my first upload that I thought I had replaced). If you see that one, it is the bottom image with a large tube.

I think I figured it out: As long as I keep the same Draw size that I used to create the tube - it works fine. But If I increase the Draw size much larger to move the tube around (like the tutorial shows), the tube balloons up. I don’t know how the tutorial creator was able to do it with a bigger Draw size, but at least I finally figured out what was causing my problems.

So unless someone has any suggestions on how to use a larger Draw size to move the tube around, I guess we can consider this solved.

Thanks

Use “CurveEdit Radius” and “CurveEdit FocalShift” in “Stroke > Curve Modifiers” to change the light blue CurveEdit cursor size.

changing your brush size over the curve and away from the curve (blue and red) has different functions. Blue effects the curve while red is the radius of the tube.

Thank you for replying zber2 and beta_channel. You were very helpful.
