Looking for ways to create a tapered polypainted shape.
Trying to create a diamond shape with CurveEditable brush, where the ends are tapered and the middle is thick. Size is only effecting one end of the curve.
What are some other ways to do this?
I think you’re over thinking it. Those are thick shapes, not strokes. Don’t try to do everything with a single stroke. Just paint the basic outline, fill in the middle, then refine the edge of the shape with a small brush set to the background color to “erase” any rough edges .
If that doesn’t work for your painting process, then paint and apply the shapes separately as an alpha, or as a texture with Spotlight. This will give you much more control over their application.
Assuming you’re using a pressure sensitive tablet, you can make it easier to get tapered ends on a stroke by using Lazy Mouse with a steady stroke, low step value, and enough radius and smooth value to get the quality you want. You may also need to adjust your pressure sensitivity. You can change the size and color pressure sensitivity for a brush in the Brush > Tablet menu by adjusting the curves.
that’s a good idea thanks, I’m also learning Spotlight.
It has more to do with the tablet pressure not working as expected. Photoshop and other apps work as expected very detailed precise control, but in ZBrush something is off with the Pressure Sensitivity.
What kind of tablet is it? Can we see some screenshots of the strokes in Zbrush?
