Curve (mesh) brush unwanted snapping to surface?

Hello all,

I have made a custom insert mesh brush of a clump of hair (more like a bear claw shape) using the curve function. The issue I am having is it is snapping to the base head model and I want it to behave more like the curve tubes brush where I can draw it out from the head, instead it is acting like the curve tubes snap brush. I have disabled the snap button in the curves options, though this hasn’t fixed the issue. Can anyone help?

Cheers!

Try to set in the picker menu , depth, Once Z. It will snap only in the first point and then will align with the screen.
I hope this is what you was looking for.

That’s it! Thanks Altea

So the only other issue is my mesh seems offset from the curve. Is this a setting issue or a mesh pivot issue? Cheers

The curve is fine as it starts correctly.
The mesh seems out of center. This is because when you have created the insert mesh the mesh was not in the central axis and will keep that offset as insert brush. The same would happen to this star that is off center.

Hey Atlea, Yeah I thought it might be that so I have pressed the Spivot several times and checked the model is all center to the floor, though still getting that offset. I have uploaded the files if you can check this and see what you think? Cheers

Yes, your insert brush was not unaligned as I suggested. Try set the depth to 0. It works for me, unless somebody else has another system.

Ah, I must have forgot to redo the depth when restarting the brush. Will try it again. Thanks Altea
