Curve Brush issue

Hi i am trying to use the curve brush to make strands of hair but i am having an issue with using the brush.

Every time i try to extend the curve beyond the mesh it move backwards or bends to the left or right?

Any advice/ help would be greatly appreciated.

You probably have “Cont Z” selected. Go to “Picker > Depth” and select “Once Z”.

no it seems that once z is already on

the curve always goes off into the distance when i try to resume drawing out the curve when using the curve tube brush.
