Curve brush initial snap angle

Hi,

I’m trying to wrap a curve brush around a cylinder with a small angle tilt. I can’t because the curve snaps straight.

Is there a way to change the snap value to be smaller?

See the following gif, it stays straight until I go over about 15 degrees.

Thanks

Hello @lvarom !

Try this instead:

  1. Duplicate your target mesh so you don’t disrupt the topology or polygrouping of your original. Make sure the duplicate is all one polygroup.

  2. Select the Slice Curve brush and slice cleanly through the mesh at exactly the angle you prefer. The mesh should now be divided into two polygroups on either side of your target edge.

  3. Use Stroke> Curve Functions> Frame Mesh [Polygroups]. It will create a curve along the edge you sliced into the model. This function has a polygon limit–if it doesnt generate the curve completely you may need to reduce the resolution on your duplicate mesh.

  4. Click on the live curve with your IMM brush to draw the stroke along that curve. Split the resulting geometry into its own subtool.

Thanks for sharing a way of doing it Spyndel!

I was aware of doing it using the slice method, it gets the job done but it has a lot more steps. It’d be awesome if the snap angle was a configurable setting, or something that could be toggled via hotkey.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing a setting somewhere deep in the menus.

Thanks again!
