Curse of Davy Jones

Hey everyone,
The recent user group meeting inspired me to put this little thing together.
There is MUCH MUCH Zbrushing left to do as of yet.
I still have to texture map and finish the skinning on the mesh (hence lower cloth oddities) for the posed position but I thought I’d post it up and see what you guys thought.

Thanks!

That’s some really nice modeling, Rockman. I dig the cloth a lot. The hands and arms feel nice, despite varying finger widths. And you get bonus points for posting her without the tentacles on her head. They look like she’s wearing curlers. I just washed my tentacles and I can’t do a THING with them…

Keep posting!

Looking real good this. Love the attention to detail on the dress.

My only gripe is the somewhat man-like hands she has… They’re rather angular in appeaance than slender if you get my meaning.

Can’t wait to see what further ZB’ing brings.

The model looks very promising ! ZB it up and show us the textured version.

awesome!

Thanks for the feedback you guys!
I’ll definitely work the hands and legs more and should have a more detailed version for the next post.

Well, I’ve started to sculpt out detail in head (with notes from Scott) and also changed the proportions of things around in the body based on all the great feedback.
Still so much to do!

WOW !
great work so far !
can’t wait to see the final

Finished the majority of the head sculpting and most of the bumping…still so much left to do!

WOw great work! it can be the girl in Pirates of the caribean.

i don’t mean to step on any toes, because this is really a GREAT looking model, but she seems like she came out of poser. I was just wondering if she did, and you added to her. I’m only asking because i am looking to do just that, but can’t figure everything out. some modles turn out good, others well, we’ll leave it at that. Either way you did an excellent job!!!

EDrake69: Don’t feel like you’re stepping on any toes by asking, but the answer is no, I’m not using a Poser model at all for my topology.
I’m not really a supporter of reusing meshes so much as I’d rather the practice at this juncture so I build new topology for every mesh that I work on.
I’ve just added a wire to the mesh for you to check out on the cloth and the head…as the body is being done Zack Petroc style its a bit like a quad gingerbread man doll until I resurface it in cyslice but I can post the iterations on the tool if you’re curious.

I’m definatly curious about everything, as a beginner should be. I would LOVE to learn everything there is, unfortunately, i don’t think there’s enough time in the world for that…lol I am curious as to what programs your work with… and what (cyslice) is exactly… one other thing, (off the subject) for some reason in the tutorial, people respond less as in the main forum, so can i ask you, can you explain how i would go about creating a pill like shape? Im starting out slow, and im just doing a cartoon figure for now, and im doing Drix from Ozzy & Drix, and i need a head…lol thanks.

Hey!
Cyslice is a resurfacing package used mostly in scandata type applications to get good working topology from high resolution meshes.
As for your pill shape you can do it with 2 or 3 scaled Zspheres that are dropped to look like the gesture of the form you’re searching for, or you can just stretch a sphere or pinch a cylinder in maya or xsi to get the gesture.

hey, thanks for the input, i just figured it out with (Tool/Initialize)…lol… But that cyslice thing you were talking about, with scandata type apps? i’m sorry, but could you explain a little more? (EX. i found this app that is called Doctor M.) it is used to scan multiple images from different angles and this app converts it to a 3D mesh. it’s free, but i can’t dl… is that what you’re talking about? also, what app are you talking about when you say scandata type app?

After loads of class work managed to get back to it and finalize the mesh and am now getting it ready for a rapid prototype as well as texture painting!

What type of rapid prototyping are you going to do? Will it keep the detail?

I’m going to do an 4 or 8 inch starch, and an 8 inch abs plastic. I’m hoping to keep quality but I may lose 30 percent of the finer details.

:grimacing: Is there a way I can contact you, I would like to buy an ABS, or Starch model from you, so I can paint it…:grimacing:

Let me know, I am very interested…:+1:
