Ctrl+ z Subtool Bug

I’m new to zbrush. I don’t know if this is a bug or something I’m doing wrong, but it’s happened many times now for both myself and other coworkers.

Using ZBrush 4R7 64-bit and an Intuos tablet, I am working on many small low resolution subtool mesh surfaces. Occasionally I will use ctrl+ z to undo as I’m quickly working.

The result is that all of the geometry of the subtool completely disappears. It’s not visible in the right hand subtool menu. It’s not hidden. AND it seems to delete/purge all history for that particular subtool as well! All the other subtools seem to work just fine. If I tap F on the “missing” subtool the screen goes blank and the other subtools no longer work until I exit and re-enter edit mode. If I try to actually delete the corrupted subtool, Zbrush often crashes soon after.

The only solution I find is to leave the “missing” subtool and reAppended the surface and all work on that surface must be redone.

Please let me know if this has happened to anyone else before and if there is a solution. All ideas are appreciated
Thank you!
