Cthulhu mythos WIP

I am currently studying a hnd in 3d design at the moment and hoping to get into special effects and character creation next near at uni.
my final major project i have made for my self will cover the units off body adornment and model making.
i have come up with the idea of creating a character from hp lovecrafts cthulhu mythos, for a fictional film.
for the body adornment unit i will be making a mask and for the model making unit i am thinking of toys/merchandise.

i have done a few sketechs so far but the one i favoured is the following, this is by no means a final design, i will be working through the design process through hand drawing/sketches, work on z brush, and test rigs to find the limitations of the practical materials, and alter my design accordingly.

i will be posting my progress so look forward to hearing your opinions.
thankyou.

oh yeah some details of the character that i chose are that it is an eyeless humanoid lizard with tentacles.
i will post its name with in the mythos later when i can rememebr it
the tentacles will be on the head as this is the only element i am making for the body adornment unit

i have done a few ideas and modeled one so far, it was started from the basic head mesh.
i have done a number of variations in terms of colour to help decide its enviroment, these two are desert and underwater.
i will provide sketchs of these later and also some which are further along in terms of the design process, and i am getting closer to an idea, but i will be testing materials tomorrow and these will no doubt influence my design.

lovely work, what is your workflow? love it.

I started with a simple head mesh
there were a few issues with the topology however when trying to irradicate the mouth, being a learner still i didnt want to go messing it up drastically so i left it as neat as i could.
i left it as a high res model and textured and painted in projection master, rendered in z brush and touched up the mouth area topology in photoshop.
i am currently working on a displacement map and a few different texture maps, i will post the outcomes

here are some images of the mouth.
how it came about this was that i simply smoothed out all of the mouth area, and the mesh obviously had a hole for the mouth, i do not know though how to fill holes or if it is even possible, and i couldnt be bothered to faff about moving each point right up to each other as it didnt really pose a problem for my concept ideas, but it will do in future so if any one could help me with a few pointers on how to sort out such things then it would be very much appreciated as i am still very much a new user to z brush

I have been doing alot of other stuff recently, not had a great time to go on z brush, but got zbrush 3 and it is seriously amazing, speeds up the process, makes it so much easyer, and ensures me something great to show to my peers at my college show! thankyou to all involved in making the program, i need not say more as we all appreciate it.

anyway. i have made my mask, i will upload some pics soon, but for my end of year show i wanted to make it in zbrush, and carry the character on abit futher.
iv been exploring the new z brush and i gotta say its great, i especialy love the HD and the cavity masking, that sure saves me alot of time doing dodge and burn post work on photo shop!
any way heres the progress!

the mask is modeled on the one i made, not spot on though, but a rough idea
for my presentation i am doing a video so i have had to make up the rest of the body and here is what i have!

here is the mask model
