Crisp edges after dragging an alpha/ Alpha resolution

Hi all,
I made an alpha to get the shape of the eye-holes. Is there a way to get crisper edges without re-doing the alpha? I think on the alpha my edges were crisper. I think I loose sharpness because of the size of the alpha. Does this make sense? What is a reasonable image size for this kind of alpha? Is my alpha resolution limited by my screen size? If I try to make 2048x2048 it doesn’t fit on my screen and I get big black borders.

Edges like on the left side (panel loop) would be awesome. I have tried to fix the edges with dam and pinch brush but that looks ugly.
Maybe there is another workflow needed to get the shape of the eye-holes?

Thanks in advance,
KK

512 is fine for that alpha.

it looks like your mesh isn’t dense enough for the alpha though.

Hi,
I think I solved my problem. Like beta_channel mentioned 512x512 Aplah is big enough.

  1. I used “Lathe” in 3DS Max to create simple shape.
  2. Then I added some edges to get hard edges where needed.
  3. Used TurboSmooth to get round shapes where needed
  4. GoZ and added some small details
  5. Set document size to 512
  6. GrabDoc and export to PS
  7. Filled the borders with white
  8. Back to ZBrush adjusted MidValue, focal shift etc.
  9. Divided base geometry up to ~4Mio.

And voila, I’m happy with the result:

Maybe this helps somebody…
