Creature modeler, sculptor required

Currently in pre production on a scifi indie film project that follows the ordeal of a crash landed survivor stranded on a forbidding snow planet.
This is our team site for the various parts of the project HERE

We need a modeler for a giant ice worm creature that features in the film script. [INFO HERE](http://collabunlimited.net/network/ads/entry/Creature-scultor-required-)

We’re getting some of the sound for this guy started and could use a film quality creature model for use in the final shots.

It's not a full time or high pressure gig- we work on a regular, but laid back speed. HOWEVER, you must be able to be involved on a regular basis -ie: you won't disappear for weeks to do other stuff (emergencies excepted of course).... You must also be able to pull off consistent quality work-

Wow! Awesome response from some super talent.
Found what we expect will be an amazing partner to work with on this.

Thanks to all who applied.

I’ll try to come back to show how things develop.

More opportunities coming up later this year, so stay tuned.

I have a critical note about your idea.

I don’t want to be a party pooper here, but your monster request looks almost exactly like the sand monster in Dune; http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20171850_7,00.html
Type ‘worm monster’ in google and you get zillion of these type of monsters, not really an original idea IMHO…

Remember The Thing? The head that got loose of the body and transformed into a spider, with that serpent-like tongue? That was freaking original and unexpected. Alien; Giger art, awesome creature, something new, dirty spaceship, set a standard for most of todays movies. That was quality and not done before. Something that lacks 99% of todays si-fi movies. They all dig from the same idea-box, we have seen it over and over again, boring.

Not that I doubt that a quality 3D artist can make this look beautiful, artists can do that, but that’s not my point. Be original with ideas. When I see that worm popping out of the snow I think; Dune.

Well what they did not tell you was that they set charges near the beast as it is going to emerge for the second time and but it does nothing but mare the ground. Their second option is to nuke it from space ,the missiles leave a gigantic crater in the ice. The beast is shown dead and half way out of the crater. They send in science probes to check the vitals of the leviathan. The first images show the beast is covered in what they think at first is dark green slime but when the probes come in closer it turns out to be grass everyday green grass. puzzled the scientist at the base camp not far beyond the now dead beast wonder what it means. A few hours later A disheveled man bursts into the encampment eyes bloodshot and gasping for air holding a readout. “the thermal and genetic readout of the beast shows something amazing. it was not buried in the ice it was under the ground the whole of human history. it was probably there before the dinosaurs”. moments later the earthwide quakes start. :ex: just my idea on how it should have been written.

Fabrizio Bortolussi is working on some pretty nice ZB sketches, the concept didn’t put him off in the least.

But yeah, it’s not meant to be the most breathtaking shock original creature ever, so thanks for the helpful suggestion, I’m sure they are heartfelt.

I wish you good luck with the project, you have a wonderful artist and I bet the final results are going to be fantastic.

Long time since posting this.

I’d like to show the final work, but sadly the model is still not complete.

Fabrizio has been through some very rough times trying to help friends and family in Japan’s “nuclear zone” and now at home with resulting health issues.

As much as I hate to see it happen, he isn’t going to be able to complete this job.

Anyone in here (or know of someone) available and able to help finish the film quality, creature model?

If so, please contact me so we can discuss it. softdistortions AT hotmail.com

thx all,
sd

Anymore information how complete was the creature that he was working on? Depending on how complete it was I think that I could take a stab at it.

Finally coming to the home stretch with the creature sculpt.
Here’s the latest work done by Chris Lebaron.

Thx Fabrizio and Chris for helping move this closer to completion!
