I’m working on a medeival castle, I have made a rough model of the thing and come to the conclusion that I need two types of towers. Some buildings and a wall maybe etc. I would like to import in these very rough models, they’re about 200 polygons or something. Apply a displacement map on them to get bricks and then start adding additional detail on a high res tower in zbrush. When it’s done I want to export it retopologize it, unwrap and bake a normal map from it.
But I’m stuck, I know how to use a displacement map on the unwrapped tower to get the bricks, but because the faces are not equally large on the tower when I subdivide the mesh the displacement map turns out looking different for each new face. I can’t use something like dynamesh to make each face equally large because that would destroy the uv map and I can’t really unwrap the model in zbrush because the uv islands need to be straight to align with the displacement map.
The tower is also symmetrical on all four sides which makes it even more aggrivating. How would you fix this?
