Hello, as a new user to ZBrush, can anyone advise me on how to punch a hole in a mesh in ZBrush, or is this not feasible.
The way that gives you the best result is to:
- Ctrl+drag to paint the area for the hole (masking it).
- Invert the mask by pressing Tool>Masking>Inverse.
- In the Tool>SubTool submenu, set the Thick slider to 0, then press Extract.
This will make a new mesh, with a hole but without subdivision levels. You may need to switch on Tool>Display Properties>Double to view inside the hole.
It is also possible to hide polygons and then delete the hidden polys at the lowest subdivison level using Tool>Geometry>Del Hidden. This may give a stepped edge to the hole, depending on the mesh.
Thank you!! I will try this and when I eventually finish my model, I shall post it and await a deluge of critism from all you veterans out there!.
