Creating a 3D Landscape with the Single Layer Brush

I was just having fun in ZBrush, trying out tools that I haven’t used much yet and I got this idea. I used the single layer brush with ZAdd on an empty canvas to paint the top view of a landscape. Then I grabbed it off the canvas, then turned the alpha into a 3d tool. You can play with the mesh density and the depth density setting to get different results. Then I put the new object into the scene and played with the move/scale/rotate to get the perspective. Then I edited it like I would any other 3d tool. I painted the rest in other layers. This is not the greatest image but I thought if used effectively, could result in great landscape images. Hope that was new news for someone. It was for me!

Cheers Irenicus, doing doodles in zbrush is a great way to learn new things, I’ve been doodling away the last couple of weeks with a focus on the 2.5d tools. Lots of quick pictures and lots of fun to. Hope you are having fun to.

Regarding your picture, if you want an easier way to do perspective use the Perspective button in the Draw panel. Check out the Quicklinks as I am sure they explain it better than me.

i agree with TV, doodling is one of the best ways to learn the program…great pic! ;o)
