Create New Topology with ZSphere bug/Orange wireframe.

I’m experiencing a weird bug. I’m, trying to create new topology with the zsphere tool. I did a test with a low polygon sphere. It has 8320 polygons. 1. select the zphere, 2. go to rigging, 3. select Mesh. 4. Chose my sphere. 5. Edit topology.

I get an orange cage/wireframe. and the only geometry I’m able to edit is the ZSphere itself. I reinstalled zbrush and my first attempt worked. When I opened up the project I’m working on and attempted to create new topo, I got the orange wireframe again and all new projects have this orange wireframe. I’ve included a screenshot below.

Not a bug! You’re doing it wrong.

Draw a zsphere on the canvas and turn on Edit
Go to Tool > Rigging and click “Select Mesh” (select the mesh you want to retopo)
Go to Tool > Topology and click “Edit Topology”
Start your retopo.

What you were doing is just editing the existing topology.

Yes, i was doing what you instructed. I meant the topo I had created when i said sphere. I’m still getting the error and I had no problems when I reinstalled Zbrush the 1st time i attempted it. I’m thinking the project file I’m working on might have a bug that causes sphere topo to stop functioning correctly. I think I should attempt to reinstall again and do another test.

thanks

Thanks Zber2!

I must have Asbergers or Dyslexia. It’s working now.

:+1: Glad you’re back in business.

You can also use the Appended ZSphere Method for more flexibility in retopoing.
