Hi guys! I was playing a bit with the matcap tool trying to a create a new material from scratch using an image as reference. But I noticed that every time you do that, you’re actually modifying the currently selected material but lets suppose that I don’t want to changing it.
It’s possible to create a new Matcap material without modifying one from the default library? Or alternatively, how can I duplicate materials to create new slots?
Hope someone can answer me. Maybe it’s a simple procedure or I don’t really know if I asked something that it’s not even possible to do. I still don’t know so much things about zBrush.
Thanks in advance.
Yes, it is possible to duplicate it. You normally do that with brushes, materials etc to keep the original intact. In this case you simply save the material with a different name.
You have also the option copy material and paste material, but this is for copying settings of one materials over another one.
You can also copy and paste shader channels (S1, S2, S3, S4) between materials. Just bear in mind that the S1 channel from one material will usually not work as S2, S3 or S4 in a different material. S1 must always be S1. But you can for example take the Tri-Shader and copy S1, S2 from one material into it, then S2 from another material into S3 on the new material.
There’s a lot of room for experimentation.
Hi guys! I’ve been pretty busy these days so, sorry for the late answer. Anyway I try to follow your tips and they’re both very good. Thank you for your time and support!
See you next time!
