I just noticed that there’s a Create Alpha button and I’m super excited to be able to create alpha from masks. I drew out a quick mask on a polyplane, clicked the button, and got a flat white alpha instead. Anyone have any idea how to get this working? I have a suspicion it has something to do with UV’s.
What is the purpose to make an alpha in the plane3d? Of course if you did that, a flat white plane is the result, instead:
1.Use the simple brush
2.Freehand stroke
3.Chosee the alpha you like of for instance test the alpha 14
4.Select Flat material and drag in the canvas de figure you like to convert to alpha
5.Select in the alpha panel Grab doc and them you have the new alpha in your alpha palette
hope this is what you are looking for…

I like the idea of using a mask drawn on a poly plane because I can use symmetry and curve selection tools to draw the mask and get a really nicely constructed alphas.
I thought this would work because I saw (in a tutorial) that you could mask ambient occlusion, then make an alpha out of that and convert that to a texture in addition to just making the texture straight from the masking.
