There is currently no variable edge weighting with crease tags like there is, for instance, with PSubs in other dedicated modeling programs. However:
If you turn on the QGrid options in the Dynamic Subdivision menu, you can adjust the crispness of the edges. However, this only works on boxy mechanical style objects, and does not work well with complex objects that are a blend of curves and hard angles.
When you subdivide an object, in the Tool > Geometry> Crease menu, you can specify how many “Crease levels” you wish. Setting a low number means the crease tags will only function for a few levels of subdivision, resulting in softer edges when fully subdivided.
Otherwise, the only way to vary edge weight is good old fashioned modeling. A beveled edge or two edge loops very close together are the same as a crease when subdivided. Move the edges further apart for a softer edge.
