Crashing regularly and not saving over files

Hello,

I purchased a legit copy of Zbrush about 2 years ago and since I finally got around to updating to 22.0.8 it has two big issues.

First, it will not export over a file. It will tell me it has but the file will be 0kb and hold no data. Saving as a new file name works fine but obviously sometimes you don’t want to do that.

Secondly it crashes now, just randomly it seems. This can be on any interaction, from saving to swapping subtools. Seems to happen about every 70-80 minutes and it has a noticeable tendency to do it when either splitting by mask or deleting a subtool. So much so that I have become quite good at saving before it happens with near perfect timing. When it doe crash on save though… there are few things as frustrating.

This is driving me insane. People are telling me ‘just use this cracked version of 2023 it works fine!’ but because I shelled out for a legit copy, I don’t want to. I shouldn’t have to. The fact pirates are having no issues while me, a paying customer is really annoys me.

I would, if I could, go back before I updated it but that doesn’t seem to be an option. Please, if anyone has any idea why this is happening please tell me how to fix it.

I’m sorry you’re having some trouble! What you describe are not typically experienced problems. If you cannot save successfully to a location, there could be something on your system preventing access to that location. Crashes can happen for any number of reasons, but persistent crashing not linked to a specific action is usually the sign of a more serious problem either with your installation, something else running in your installation environment, or a problem with the content in the file.

To assist you with any of these problems, you would need to contact Maxon Support. We can’t help you with problems like these over the public forums with this sort of limited information.
