Crash on opening Zproject

Hello,

well like the title tell my Zbrush 4 is crashing when I try to open one of the two saved Zproject files. While I worked i could open it once or twice. Can’t really remember.

I have only worked on sculpting and Retopo tools.
It looks like the Save files got corrupted when I started retopologizing.

Had other people same experience? or is the save Zproject as unstable and unreliable as I think it is at the moment?
Or was it just something I did in Zbrush that made the file corrupted and it could have happened on a Ztool save, too?

Are there known things in Zbrush 4 that will corrupt my saves?

ZBrush 4 has a failsafe feature that should prevent corruption during saving. If a model would become corrupted during the save, ZBrush won’t overwrite the existing file. (Or if it’s a new save, nothing will be written.) So if you’re getting a corrupted file, then it’s something that shouldn’t be happening. In that case, please submit a support ticket and include a link where we can download the corrupted file from for testing.

Well I have 2 corrupted files and I can send a ticket if I knew how or better where.

Could you please tell me?

When I write such a ticket, is there a chance that I could get an answer from the the team or maybe even a “cleaned, rescued” file?

There’s not going to be much answer that the team can give. They’re simply going to be using the files to try and determine why the save didn’t work right. It’s highly unlikely that they’ll be able to fix the files.

thanks a lot. I wrote the ticket and hope they find the files useful.
I really dont want to face this problem in a real life production. This was just for my self a training session.

But it is really annoying. More annoying than a crashing tool.

Hi,
I have the same experience.

Please try.
Select Tool -> ZSphere in the beginning, and open the project file.

It seems that it doesn’t crash when preserving it with Preview on of Tool -> Adaptive Skin.

That helped a lot :smiley: I could open my files again. I am so happy that i did not lost the files :slight_smile:

It looks like that there is a problem with the program itself, not the zproject file.
I tryed real fast to reproduce the problem but failed.

But it seams, that when you retopo and your active tool is the zspheres and you save it as a project it will crash the program at opening the file unless your active tool is the zsphere, BEFORE you open your project.

Hope this will help a bit for bugfixing. I have already written a ticket about it with the files added. So hope they will fix this nasty bug.
