Crash / Hanging in 4r7 "File Saved to Disk Sucessfully"

I am pushing 64bit 4r7 pretty hard (I think) and I’m sure that is causing this on some level. I don’t normally work like this building everything out. So to be clear normally Zbrush has been quite stable for me.

I have a very high poly high file-size-on-disk ztool i’m working with. 64Bit Zbrush is quite impressive!!! Very amazing. I am having a problem with it crashing (abnormal termination) or just hanging. The main reason i’m posting is because I feel like there is a trend with the issue where right when it does this in the upper left corner it will say “File Saved To Disk Successfully”.

Does that clue into anything? What does that mean? My quicksave is set really really high to like 250 so I would hope it isn’t Quicksave. Could I be hitting a shortcut on accident? May be another feature is trying to save something to disk I don’t know about?

Thanks.

Hello

Are you using MAC or Windows. Do you get any message when the crash occurs?

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate.

It will either hang with the spinning circle thing for a very very long time until I crash it out myself or I get an Abnormal Termination but i’m not sure what else it says.

The “file saved to disk successfully” is a message you see when Zbrush has already crashed, and it’s attempting an emergency save on the file, which can be found in the “Recovered Files” directory.

So it’s a question of what you are doing immediately prior to seeing that message that might cause the crash. Bear in mind each system has its own limits in terms of active polygon limit and memory usage, which working beyond will cause instability in Zbrush.

I’m having the same issues too. My problem is when I have the lowest subdivision level on which is 1. I just want to do a simple extrusion and the “Abnormal Termination” pops up and then i crashes. I have enough memory too. I’m completely baffled as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
