Converting 'Figures' to 'Statues'

Hi.

What is the best way of taking an articulated figure sculpt and turning it into a solid-object statue with its limbs blended into its body?

What I mean is, I’d like to take one of my figure sculpts and pose its limbs tight to its body and turn it into a ‘Niche’ statue. Like the ‘Saint Figures’ in a cathedral. No limb articulation, just a solid object, as if carved from a block of stone.

Is there a way to fold my figure and have all the limb intersections turned into ‘Blends’ or ‘Merges’?

I work mostly with ZBrush and Maya.

Thanks!

Convert it into a DynaMesh and I think you should get what you want.

Thanks, Phonix!

What is a ‘Dynamesh’ and where do I start?

Dynamesh is a new feature in 4R2. If you don’t have it yet, a Remesh could work as well I believe.

Or if you have a lot of detail (which may get lost with dynamesh), you could retopologise the mesh so that the base geometry is all one piece.
