converting bump into normal map?

i would like to know if ZB can convert a bump map into a normal map, i searched but couldnt find if its possible within ZB,
but i found a plugin from Nvidia that may allow me to do it, i will try it tomorrow when i get a chance. but is this possible to do within ZB somehow?

the displacement exporter found here can convert your selected alpha to a normal map with many options.

OK great. thanx a bunch.
i wil turn my bump map into an alpha and export it as a normal map.

ZMapper will do the job. It has a feature that incorporates bump mapped details into the normal map.

yea but, i dont have a high rez version of the mesh to extract a disp map from
its just a painted bump done in zb. id like to see if it can be used as a norm map.

I am pretty sure that it doesn’t matter. As long as you have a sub division level on your mesh. And your bump map is in your alpha slot when you go into zmapper, and you have the correct settings turned on in zmapper it will automatically roll your bump map into your normal map. Worth a shot.

–E-- is right. Divide the mesh once, then return to level 1. Put the bump map into the Alpha palette and set Tool>Displacement>Intensity to a value that you like. Then launch ZMapper.
