Controlling Subdivide/Crease

Hi gang,
I am trying to achieve a subdivided mesh from this low poly created in Max but am unsure how to achieve SELECTIVE controlled creasing (chamfering).

Here is the reference image.

The overall mesh is too soft compared to the referenced image.

Is there a way in Zbrush to select specific edges to definine crease hardness?Currently I’ve been doing this using smoothing groups within Max.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

i`m guessing the best thing to do would be to do this entirely in max,
by adding some more edges here and there on a small section and make that look nice…then clone it in a cricle or equalent.

Yes, under Tools, you have the option to set groups and you can then tell the edges of a group to be hard. You can also move that one edge out further to keep a crisper edge. Also, what are your import settings? Smoothing on? Maybe you wat to turn it off.

Tool>Geometry>Crease will apply a crease around the edge of the visible polygons. So you would hide everything except the polygons that you want to have a hard edge and then press Crease.

You can make a crease even harder by creasing both sides of the edge.

The Tool>Geometry menu also has a control that specifies when the crease will go into effect. You can use this CreaseLvl slider to specify how many subdivisions the crease will affect. At a value of 2, ZBrush will take the crease into account the first two times that you subdivide the mesh, then smooth as normal for every division after that. This allows you to soften a crease in a chamfer effect.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the answers
Will post results later.
