community involvment

hi, i wanna tell you about a thing thats going on on modo forums. we started a community project where everyone that wants joins in to make a certain weekly or so project. and… i thought hot dang, that would be so fantastic if zbrush had one of these community projects goin on here. its so fun and yuo would learn from each other. i just cant say how great it would be to have one here. its lot harder for me to learn zbrush than modo so it would help me as well as everyone else to learn zbrush.

i posted this here cause i didnt kniow who to talk to. so if the zbrush makers are listening. try it ok. just try it out. how many others would lie a zbrush community project here. let em know..thanks for listening...

Ranjr, I don’t know if this is what you mean, but the zbrush gang here at ZBC has weekly/bi-weekly challenges. If you look in the challenges area you will be able to see what I am talking about. Is this what you mean?
ron

we used to do something similar at renderosity.com LW forum, basicaly set up a scene, people model different type of characters or items(cars, buildings, etc) and someone will add cool effects, set up a scene and render it… Then move on to something else to model and have fun with.

Meats has done something similar to this in the “final piece image series” thread…

ron harris. the idea is for people to get in on a small project of building an object or whatever. it shouldnybe to hartd fopr newbs. and everyone can learn from each other by sharing ideas and technique and zbrush knowledge in general.

buckie, meats project was way more involved than should be attempted for newbs like me. its to learn with not to produce anything spectacular.

and its not a contest. we wouldnt be competing. just working on a project together. just a learning project. one step a a time. one project at a time.

hi ranjr

you make a good point about a “contest” being user friendly. Please know that the Monday or well almost Monday night challenges are not a contest. They are as the name implies a challenge to you to create something within the theme of the week or biweek or month…whatever the length.

They are always open to everyone. I know that if you see some amazing post within that challenge it can be intimidating but that’s not what the challenges are about. It’s about giving you some idea perhaps you haven’t thought about to challenge you to create something with what you have learned so far and share it.

Remember you may be new to zbrush but someone will always be newer and you could pass on what you have learned to them. That is the beauty of this community.

Having said all that, I have been toying with starting a newbie challenge that focuses on certain aspects of zbrush. I couldn’t decided whether or not to incorporate them within the regular challenge or do a separate one. But perhaps, the intimidation factor says…start a fresh one for newbies only. It’s a good idea. If I get a chance I’ll post one up for tomorrow.

welcome to zbrush by the way!
