Comments welcome

Well, I downloaded and installed the ZB2 demo on the workstations in my lab and here’s the result after two weeks with working with the program. The 3D images were made by my 8th graders. After an introduction to the program, the kids were given Glen Southern’s Space Monkey as their first project. I think he originally wrote it for the earlier version of ZB (1.0 or 1.5), so we had to update it using the commands in v2.

The files were saved out as native ZB2 .psd, which I then popped into GraphicConverter and batched them to jpg, then merged all to one document - so the quality may have suffered in all that translation somewhere.

It’s too bad that there aren’t more simple tutorials out there. I’ve already downloaded the v2 Practical Manual, but a lot of it (about 85-90%) is waayyy above my kids’ heads.

I’m thinking about tackling ZSpheres next, using Ken Brilliant’s(?) Cactus tutorial, followed by his Octopus tutorial. Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide links to other simple tutorials.

Somehow I deleted the image link, not realizing that it would delete the embedded image as well.

Some of the kids just finished up their projects late this afternoon, so here’s the latest group photo!

Any simple tutorial links yet? gr8pm.jpg

Thats got it! What a fun class to teach that must have been. Looks like you have some future z brushers on hand. well done :+1:

Five stars for your students :+1:

That’s a great idea to include that into your curriculum. My art teachers had us focusing on the dead art of stippling for half a semester. Then we got to move on to oragami. And that was only a little over a decade ago.

They did a great job!

I wish I had a teacher like you with ZBrush around when I was going to school.
All the kind of stuff that I was doing was things like painting rocks or sticking tape on a balloon then painting it…

man we learned how to cave paint when i was a kid…i bet there are X number of students begging mom and dad for zbrush right now!

I’ll have to think about some old scripts…if I think of one that might be easy enough I’ll let ya know. Am pretty sure there are a few around here.
