combine normal map

i have a question , i have different normal maps and want to combine in one map, how can i do??? use photoshop to overlap will lost detail ?

anyone pls i use xnormal for generate normal map how can i combine it i have try overlay but blue channel was destroy .:cry:

Take 1 normal. Place another on top in PS. Go into channels. Select the blue. Adjust the levels and lower white to 128. Set that layer to overlay. Should be all good.

you can use 3ds max to bake a combination using the base normal in the normal slot, convert you normal to cavity and use it like detail, and aplicate this material to your model and use render to texture, then set a normal map render, and this will make a normal map with all the detail and correct function

For maps from subtools that use the same UV space you can use the Merge Maps function of the Multi Map Exporter plugin.
