I would like to give my fibre mesh hairs the same color as the body they sit on, which has been polypainted. Is there any way to do that?
Is this what you’re looking for?
Is that you, Jochen? Thanks a lot for this link. I think that’s exactly what I need. I’ll watch the tutorial later…
Yup, that’s me .
Great!
But here’s the next problem. I got it to work, but if I export, all colors are gone. I could have expected that, as there’s no UV. They should somehow get baked into the fibres, but how?
Should be possible, maybe you’ll have to split into color groups, though.
Have a look here:

Unfortunately, that doesn’t provide the answer. The fibers’s vertices should somehow be projected in the same UV layout as the body’s UV map, no matter if it all being ‘dots’. But I don’t see a way to do that.
Color groups would not work either as gradation is too subtle.
Maybe if the fibers were linked (merged to) to the body? I tried that after the body UV was made, but the fibers were all black, as they didn’t have a UV.
Maybe before doing the UV map… but then the problem is that I already have a UV map and the polypaint is in place…
There must be a way, as I often see furry animals with colored hairs.
Anybody?
