Clone Tool outside of 2D mode

It’s a shame ZBrush does not have such a basic tool - or has it? There is a ZProject that uses depth info for stamping, adding a shift by 1 vector isn’t a big deal…

Hi @enquel!

You can use Projection Master or ZAppLink to paint with either the Zbrush 2.5d clone tool or the clone tool in the image editor of your choice. See this video. Spotlight also has a clone feature for texture painting.

In terms of displacement cloning with the 3d tools, ZProject is a much more accurate way to do this. You can position the source geometry exactly wherever and at whatever depth you’d like, and then duplicate that detail on the target mesh without any guesswork involved with the brush offset. Cloning color detail from one location to another in a 2d environment is not an apples to apples comparison with duplicating physical detail in a 3d environment–there are more variables involved in the latter.

All that said, if you’d like to make a feature request of the developers, the best way to do this is to submit a Support ticket-- one per suggestion. Your request may not be seen here by anyone who makes those kinds of decisions.
