Clip Curve Brush Problems.

Hey, Ive been following along with Eat3d’s hard surface tutorial and Im having some pretty irritating issues with the clip curve brush. Every time I try and clip a mesh I get artefacts around the rim where the polygons have been pushed back (I should note that very occasionally it will clip without problems, but when I restart Zbrush it starts doing it again). In the tutorial however, the instructor never has this issue, he simply clips away at the edges and its clean every single time no matter the angle. Is there a setting or something that Im missing?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

sorry i cant help, but this isnt going to be the only problem you will run into for that eat3d tutorial. i was following it as well and had other problems with dynamesh

I did kind of find a solution to this, I actually needed to bump up the resolution of the object I was masking so i could more accurately draw out the shape I wanted. Before I was using a rather low poly mesh and was trying to use clip to shape it rather than the mask itself, this was leading to this problem. If you have 95% of the shape you want via the mask and then use group loops you can clip the rounded edges and avoid the artifacts around the edges. The key is not to clip too deep into the shape you want.
