Clip Brush Depth [Answered]

Hi,

It’s my understanding that the clip brushes can be made to penetrate only a certain depth into the model. I haven t had any luck figuring out how to do that. Can someone help me out?

Hold down the spacebar while you engage the clip brush and you will see a small menu that has the option “B Radius” to set the clip depth to the size of your brush.

Thanks Nancy.

Cool! Thanks guys.

P.S. I find that I get really unexpected results when using this feature with all but the clip curve brush, and even the clip curve brush only gives the expected result if I tap ‘alt’ at least once to alter the curve. Are either of you aware of these behaviors and have an explanation for them? Let me know if you would like some elaboration.

Thanks again

As far as I know the only problems with the clip brushes arise because they are being used in the wrong way, or the topology won’t support the action (remember the clip brush doesn’t remove any polygons). So you’ll need to be a bit more specific about the issues you are having, say exactly what you are doing, and include images.

Hey Marcus,

I think I have worked out the rhyme and reason for all the quirks I found, but to illustrate some of what was perplexing me I’ve included an image that demonstrates some of the differences in behaviour that I observed. All examples shown have Bradius turned on.
