Clear Plastic

I am trying to make a clear plastic box for use as a toybox and I can get it to render as clear but when I export it comes out solid. Any help is appreciated.

Hello @buck27 ,

I can’t immediately reproduce what you report. Transparency requires the Transparent option to be enabled both in the Render> Render properties menu, and for the specific subtool In Tool> Display Properties > BPR Settings.

If the above does not account for your issue, can I please have you contact ZBrush Support and document the issue in greater detail?

Thank you!

Thank you Spyndel,

I have turned on Transparency in the tool menu with the BPR settings. When I click BPR I can see the object transparent. But when I click to work or sculpt again it goes away. Now I do understand that this how that works but, I am really looking to find out how do you keep it transparent when you export the model to say, Substance Painter? Do I need to bake it or save it in some way? Sorry I was not very descriptive in the original post my friend.

I have googled and looked on YouTube and I find stuff on making things transparent but nothing on exporting a mode that has transparent features.

Hi @buck27

Zbrush uses a software renderer and not a raytrace renderer. The BPR transparency in ZBrush can only be used in ZBrush and is not really a glass or actual transparent material, but an illusion of one. You use Blender, so you would have to assign a glass or plastic material in that software and use one of Blender’s render options. ZBrush can create UV’s and export textures created using polypaint but it can not export it’s materials. Hope that helps.

I was able to get it into Substance Stager 3D and got what I wanted from it! but thank you so much for helping me along the way.
