cinema 4d anyone?

I have had a demo of cinema 4d for quite a while, but never really got into it, I had some spare time yesterday so I decided to have a play, I mainly wanted to have a play with the things that people have raved about (hyper nurbs, rendering engine, material modifier) Having used 3d max as my main 3d app,(next to zbrush that is) I was really surprised at the quality of this program. I had no real troubles where I was ripping my hair out trying to figure out what was going on. I’d like to hear anyones comments or works with cinema 4d, I think that it could be a good sister app to extend the supreme arsenal of zbrush. this is waht I mainly played with (its not too good because u can’t save with the demo.

I bought C4D XL 7 the beginning of August. I’ve been tinkering with it but haven’t had the time to sit down and dive into it. From what I have experienced with it so far I would say it is indeed a good app to use with ZBrush (which is one of the reasons why I purchased it)…powerful, easy to use, full of features. Version 8 will be out soon with some really cool enhancements.

I know that’s a ‘Kick-ass’ reflection map on the table!!

I’m going to be getting Lightwave 7.whatever any time now, but I might have to check this out as well! Thanks for the posting!

Hmm I think I might try this one out, I’ve been trying to learn how to use more typical modelling programs, but havn’t had much success with the Maya demo.

I have Cinema 7 Art and Lightwave 7.5 (a novice at both). Both are good solid apps, but the learning curve on Cinema (for me) has been a lot shorter. Both have active, usually helpful, user communities (but not as good as ZBrush). If you’re seriously considering Cinema, you might want to wait until 8 comes out (although I think Maxon has mentioned that if you buy Cinems 7 now you get a free upgrade. Yes if you buy 7 now you will get ver 8 for free when it becomes available (sometime this fall…)
