Chunky Knit

Chunky Knit_Mark Bannerman
Test piece experimenting with mask mesh workflows using zscripts.
Dedicated with thanks to Marcus Civis for his help in knitting together some lovely Zscripts. :sunflower:

Please note that this is not a stylised work but in fact a wholly accurate portrait of the sitter.

Hahahaha…a smile (and a chuckle) in a rainy LA day :smile:
Jaime

@Jaime Thank you Jaime, whilst working on the ‘Chunky Knit’ image I was alarmed to discover that the family cat had been fornicating with a ball of wool behind the sofa . However I was delighted later when she gave birth to mittens. :grinning:

Here’s a couple of notes from my recent experimentin’ ……

MaskMesh Arrays For Creating Hair
maskMesh_Array

Top Hair created by drawing one section using MeshBalloon Project (Picker continuous Z) > split unmasked > array 360 Y
Side Hair - Hair MeshBalloon Project (Picker continuous Z) > split unmasked > array 180 Y

Bottom image: Using script to split off mesh and run an array on the y. what is interesting is that every added maskmesh stroke is additive to that array

——————————————————————————————
Transposing MeshBalloon + Alpha
meshballoon project
MeshBalloon Project (Picker = Continuous Z) -Stroke = Rect + Dotty Alpha
Stretch on Y with Gizmo
Press y -Switch to Transpose Line
Select scale Mode for Transpose
Holding alt in scale mode from end nodes and middle.

Great work! Thank you for the post!

@ZMichael Many thanks
@Jaime A pleasure Sir.

Here’s a note on using MeshBalloon with Replay Last Relative and Replay Last Recorded.

replay last relative

To get a Replay Last Relative Stroke using MeshBalloon to be an additive stroke i.e adding to your existing mesh - make sure your first stroke to be additive and repeatable is created by holding down cntrl + shift - now every replay last relative (shift + 1) is additive. Do this by hovering over the mesh position you wish before pressing shift + 1.

With Regard Replay Last Recorded >Stroke>inventory >record (shortcut on/off number 3) It seems that you can only record one stroke. Record an additive stroke with cntrl + shift (switch off record when done) However if you use a Replay Last Recorded Stroke - shift + 2 then attempt to use a replay last relative stroke shift + 1 it repeats the last stroke and thus repeats the recorded shift + 2 stroke

To get replay last relative to work with MeshProject live boolean
the first stroke cntrl +shift - splits off the MaskMesh stroke - it is the second stroke using cntrl that adds to the existing mesh - therefore wait until the second stroke using cntrl before pressing shift + 1 to repeat last relative. Again you can add a single recorded stroke that has been recorded with cntrl held down.

Great to see you’re also proficient at realism!! :sunglasses::+1::star2:
To be honest, it didn’t come as a suprise I guess… .
