Childrens book cover-design (ages 8-15)

[color=black]Hey guys, I am posting here to see if anyone is interested in having a go at designing a cover for a children’s book (ages 8-15) I am currently writing at the moment which is due to be finished before the end of 06. (fingers crossed)[font=Wingdings]J

I am in editing at this time and attempts that have been made in the past from designers haven’t really captured the fun and characteristics of my book.

Here are some guidelines that need to be taken in.

Size of design: 5.5in wide by 8.2in tall with at least 150 pixels per inch.

The main book characters to be included in design are:

Conrad, a large skeleton around eight feet tall and five feet wide.

Conrad’s items that (MUST) feature in design include a large round wooden shield that he carries on his back and a large axe.

Berger, an average sized skeleton. Skinny (no pun intended)

Berger’s items that (MUST) feature in design include: pouches around his waste, a phoenix’s feather and a small sword.

Both skeletons which are best friends are clothed in leather boots.

Perhaps the trickiest part of the design which has stumped other designers/artists is that the skeletons must be walking out of a wooded area with Berger holding a blue coloured glowing orb out in front to light the way.

Designs can be 2d or 3d although 2d pieces are preferred.

Remember to have fun designing and please remember this is a childrens book.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact myself at [email protected]. I will try to answer all questions a.s.a.p.

Thanks for reading and have fun creating.

As the title asks, are you looking for a professional artist or an amateur artist?

The reason why I’m asking is that I could give your specs to my 8th graders and let them run with it. That way you could have artwork designed by the very age group for whom you are targeting your book.

You could do a search in the Main Forum to find examples of what these talented kids are capable of producing.

Just a thought…I truly believe that you will be astounded by their efforts!

BTW, you can email me at [email protected]

Here’s a couple of links to their projects in the Main Forum:
