Character Mouth Open (Polygon Stretched)

I sculpted a character with the mouth close but with a mouth bag, so i want to open the mouth with 3Dlayer, the problem is the polygon are way too stretched when i open it. I would like to know how to have a normal amount of polygon even if the mouth is open ?
I saw several tutorial but what they are doing is sculpting the head with open mouth then zremesh it, project then close it with 3D layer, But in my case, since the sculpt is already finished, I will loose the details
What is the normal method people use ?

Thanks for your answer

Hello @alkija ,

It’s impossible to give you any better advice without seeing the situation, but it sounds like you will need to need to alter the topology in that area either through ZRemesher or editing the topology manually, then project the detail from the original mesh onto the new one.

In order to avoid losing detail you will need to make sure the new mesh is subdivided sufficiently to capture the detail from the previous mesh, and then use one of the various methods for Projecting detail:

Good luck!
