Changing from Mac to PC

Hi everyone.

I have ZBrush on my Macbook Pro but have decided that, in the near future I want a desktop for my graphical needs. Not a fan of Apple desktops and so will be switching to Windows.

Now, obviously this will mean a switch of license from Mac to PC and I want to double check the situation there as what I understand it to be makes little sense to me…

Sounds like I have two choices.

  1. Purchase a second license for Windows at half price. This is no use to me as I really don’t have the budget for a second license and once I have the Windows version I don’t see myself using the Mac version anymore…

  2. Find a Windows user who wishes to trade their license for my Mac license. Pixologic will swap our licenses over for free but I have to find a willing counterpart…

I’m not sure I understand the logic of the second option. It seems that it’d be easier for Pixologic to simply allow people to deactivate one platform permanently and re-license on the new platform. Even if it was for a small fee (as with transferring licences when selling on). Am I going crazy? Is there another option I’m missing?

I’m just a tad confused and don’t want to go pleading for a trade when it seems like their should be a simpler solution.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

Steve

I think those are you’re only two options, and I know it sucks.

When I talked to Pixologic they said it’s because the Windows licensing is setup and run different than the Mac licensing. I think the reason they don’t offer to switch, even for a fee, is because it’s probably too much hassle to disable serial numbers linked to a copy.

Still seems weird. But thanks for the answer. Just need to make some final decisions about whether to switch to windows then I guess it’d be hunt down a windows user looking to switch…

Thanks again.
