Change model, keep old textures.

I want to model a completely new hairstyle on a model which has textures (as one .png file).

  • Keep the old textures, as is.
  • Model new hair + new texture to that hair.

How would you go about doing this?

Maybe another software is better for this? Any advice is appreciated.

My mesh have SubTools; hair, body, cloothing… etc.

Only problem is that my texture map is one file. And making longer hair wouldn’t work with this texture map.

I understand this is not a very easy thing to do. I’m grateful for any clue, doesn’t have to be very elaborate. I can research, if given directions.

You’re not getting a response because your question is vague.

Are you asking how to make hair? How to combine maps? How to model? How to texture? How to UV? Do you need the entire process?

Does that make sense? Ask a concise question and you’ll probably get a concise response.

You’re right.

Its all about the textures, and UV map. I need to make changes to my model and add textures. While keeping some of the old texture. Only way I can understand how to do it is by making a new UV and custom fit the textures, maybe in Photoshop.

I’m quite new an unfamiliar working with textures. This is a ~20k poly game character I’d later on like to bring into an game engine.
