On 3/11/2009 a new usergroup in Dallas will be holding a meeting at the SMU Guildhall (http://guildhall.smu.edu), the speakers will be 2 professionals from Janimation (http://www.janimation.com) discussing modeling on XSI importing to ZBrush for sculpting and back again.

It doesn’t matter if you are an amatuer or a long standing pro, all are invited and we look forward to learning from each other.

A CGDallas meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their skills in a friendly atmosphere. A typical group has 20 to 40 members who meet monthly to practice 3D Modeling techniques. The average meeting lasts one to two hours, covering topics from modeling to texturing.

We will aslo be syncing up with ABOSG (http://www.abunchofshortguys.org)

We had a great turn out last night. Thank you all for coming out!!!

The demo presented by Janimation (Cris Fudge & Rares) - modeling in XSI - importing to ZBrush and back to XSI was outstanding. It gave an in depth look at their production pipeline, how they baked in their normal, displacement and texture maps.

We even had a surprise speaker - Brett Briley from id Software who also did a high level Demo of ZBrush and showed off soem of his latest work.

There were plenty of door prizes and I got a lot of great feedback on what you wanted to see and what kind of door prizes you wanted and so now I am off to gather the goods for the April meeting.

I have scheduled the next meeting for April 22nd from 7pm - 9pm at the SMU Guildhall.
