Cavity masking issue in zbrush 4.0

I’m experiencing the problem with cavity masking
Under brush settings/auto masking/ CavityMask/ this feature doesnt work what it suppose to do and doesn’t work how it worked in zbrsh 3.5r3.
Also noticed that when I play with CavityMaskCurve setting when I press reset, it doesnt reset all subsettings to 0 as it suppose to, focal shift goes to +75 instead
Please advise on this.(losing lot of time to work around this)

thx!

Running win 7 64 bit version

Cavity masking does not work for me on both Mac AND Windows 7. :frowning:

same problem… someone else posted this too… I’m basically stuck with zbrush 3.5 until this is fixed

ditto here.

mask by cavity in mask subrollout of tool panel still works, though it is much less fluid than the automask version :frowning:

Yep. They’re pretty much two totally different things… I use auto masking pretty much on a daily basis

Mine is just ghosted out, I haven’t used Zbrush for around a year and a half, so can’t remember if I’m meant to of clicked some other setting to get the cavity button active. Or if this is also what you guys are experiencing?

I have created the ticket for the support on my account and basically havent got any solid answers on how to make it work and the ticket is closed, as if the problem never existed  , never got any info of when to expect some update that will fix this thing either.
I kept of the issue thinking guys a pixologic got of to a collective summer break or something, but we’re one month into the future and still nothing.
I rely heavily on this option since my work pretty much revolves around character modeling where I use this feature all the time and now I cannot use it :frowning: There are many other minor bugs that could be fixed to, I wont be nitpicking, but this thing is quite big for me, and instead zbrush 4 improves my workflow, I’m crippled:cry:.
So, would be nice to know when, if ever can we expect the fix for cavity automasking option?

There is no solid answer that can be given at this time. It is something that will require an update in order to fix. The development team is aware of it and working on the issue.

Until then, you can achieve cavity masking using the options in the Tool>Masking menu. This has options to mask by cavity, which can then control sculpting or painting.

I have the same problem under Windows 7 64, Zb 4.

I have used cavity brush extensively in the past but it seems to be broken in ZB4. I hope that this is going to be fixed soon. Pretty disappointing.

This is still a problem a year later… I still can’t use Cavity Masking after all this time. Really should fix stuff like this.
