Cant select middle face Polygroup because the brush locks to vertices?

Not sure if I pressed something but I cannot select the middle polygroup to hide or isolate it. I noticed the brush radius locks to vertices and I cant select the face, is this normal? I don’t remember that happening before. Either way I cant select the middle polygroup anyone know why?

Thank you.

( doesnt apply to zmodeler)

lock

Hello @Samsam2020

If your not using ZModeler, then that is normal. It will only snap to vertices and the one vertice is using 2 polygroups. However, you can use the Lasso stroke with a selection brush and click on the appropriate edge to select it (see image).

Hello @Samsam2020 ,

As ZBer2 explained, ZBrush thinks in terms of points, not polygons in most situations. As another way to go in this scenario it would be a simple matter to select this with the default selection marquee, by simply drawing out a selection marquee that contains all the points of the target selection, but does not contain all 4 points of the adjacent polygons:

If using ZModeler, you can also use the Transpose action set to the appropriate target to instantly mask all but the target selection.

Unless you have a situation as in the following image, in which case the method I described using the Lasso stroke would be more suitable. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you!

Thank you Spyndel!

If the shape is odd or not a polyloop, then just do the PG isolation in two clicks without the need to change to a lasso stroke. First click on the vertex that adjoins green and blue PGs as you have shown. It will pick them both and hide the rest. Then click on a vertex on the outer edge of the blue PG that doesn’t touch the green PG. It will hide the blue PG leaving only the green PG.
