Can't seem to figure out the workflow to create txtures

I’ve already painted a model in high subD and it looks good, but I didn’t clone it. Is there anyway to get it into a texture without redoing it?

I now know I’m supposed to create a clone and unwrap it. But the painting in higher res confuses me. Does anyone got some good pointers?

Thanks

Before you can create a texture map, your model must have UVs. These are so the 2D image will map accurately onto the 3D shape.

The clone is simply for UV Master to work with, and the plugin creates the clone. The point of it is so you can paint on seams (if you want) as guides for the UV creation and your original model isn’t affected. When the plugin has created UVs you use the Copy/Paste UVs buttons to transfer them to your original model.

Once your model has UVs, all you need to do is set your model at the highest subdivision level and press the Tool>Texture Map>Create>New from Polypaint. The color you painted will be used to create a texture map. You can then press the Tool>texture Map>Clone Txtr button to put a copy of the map in the Texture menu, from where you can export it.

HTH,

I appreciate the clear explanation.

Thank you!:+1:
