Can't see quick pick in the brushes panel

Hi there,

I’m new to zbrush and one thing so far that has bothered me is that I can’t see the quick pick box in the brushes panel. Anyone know what’s up?

Greetings

Hi @justalamp Welcome to ZBrush Central.

What version of ZBrush are you using?

Try the Restore Configuration “R” in the Brush palette.

Not sure which version I’m using, where can I see this? Restoring doesn’t change anything.

You’re using ZBrush 2020. See upper left corner. Latest version is ZBrush 2020.1.1

Looks like your monitor resolution is too low. Recommended is 1920 x 1080 and minimum is 1280 x 1024. See ZBrush System Specs.

I am running at 1920 x 1080. Below is mine.

Aahh, ok. Well atleast now I know. But my display resolution is 1366x768, is there any work-around so that I can use the quick pick in some form or another. It’s really a drag to keep looking for the brush I need to use each time I need to use it.

Your monitor resolution of 1366 x 768 meets the width requirement but doesn’t meet the minimum height requirement of 1024.

The only thing I can suggest is that you move the brushes that you think you would hardly ever use to a temporary folder to cut down the size of the brush palette. All the brushes that are in the brush palette are in your “ZBrush2020\ZData\BrushPresets” folder. Just don’t accidentally delete them instead of moving them though. If you do delete them then you would have to re-install ZBrush to get them back. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that then don’t do it. You could also create a custom UI with the brushes that you use most often like I have at the bottom of my screenshot but you still have limited space so that might be out of the question too.

Maybe @marcus_civis might have a better idea.

Have you tried pressing the hotkey ‘B’ to show the Brush panel? That should show the panel close to where your cursor is, so if you have the cursor in the lower part of the screen the whole panel should show.

You could also try rearranging your UI so that the large Brush thumbnail is lower down. That should have the same effect.

The only other thing is that the top of the Brush palette displays the last few used brushes, so you can reselect them from there. Otherwise, if your screen is too small to show the whole Brush panel anywhere then you will have to do as ZBER2 suggests.

@ZBER2 Thanks, that did it for now. Seeing as I’m a total beginner, there were many brushes I could move. Thanks.

I don’t know what you mean by large brush thumbnail, I only see a thumbnail when I hover over an icon. I don’t know if that’s what you mean, but it doesn’t seem top affect the position of the brushes panel. Either way, I wouldn’t know how to rearrange the ui.

Also, clicking lower still didn’t give me enough space till I moved the brushes to a separate folder.

Hi @justalamp

You’re welcome. I’m glad we could work something out for you. The large Brush thumbnail that Marcus was referring to was the one that activates the Brush palette when you click on it. See below image…
