Can't navigate where I need to, possible ?

HI ,

It’s driving me bananas trying to get the underside of my mesh ( think a cave) to show up enough that I can maneuver camera enough to edit it , from various angles. I try to zoom in to a spot I want to rotate around, and instead of being able to do that like say maya does or other 3d app, I can’t, its as if zbrush can’t get through the outside of mesh barrier, so I was wondering is there a way around this or if its me, what am I doing wrong

thanks for reading

Axis plug or bits from my custom UI will help with bottom view. There are also ‘built in’ views. Hiding things can help. Splitting mesh into parts is sometimes helpful as well. Hope that helps.

I think you’ll want to turn off “Dynamic” in the Perspective button. Check out the two perspective modes here (turning off Dynamic is the same as turning off Local):

EDIT: O.K. I didn’t read carefully about your prob. Marcus has THE solution I guess. Sorry for spam.

Even though I didn’t know the trick marcus described, the axis plug in is THE one click solution you want, I am sure. Basics views should be implemented in zBrush imho.

Modify your UI that basic views are immediatly available and you’ll almost never argue with zBrush navigation anymore.
That’s the only pic of my UI I’ve online. Left bottom corner are the swatches to change views.

If you are coming from another 3D package, I would recommend the Middle mouse button plug too (pc only)

You can there chose between 3ds max, maya & blender navigation.
Imho very cool for zmodeller.
These two plugs hellped me not getting crazy about zBrush navigation.
BUT also took me away from clearly learning ZBrushs navigation philosophy… That’s up to you. Jumping from one app to another is much more comfortable now.

Good luck.
