Can't edit my subtool (WHILE IN EDIT MODE!)

I’ve been having a really annoying bug happen recently, I was working with Zbrush r5 and only recently upgraded because I hate change, haha. But here’s what happens:

I’m modelling, everything is fine
I decide to do a material bake so I go into projection master
I pick up my material bake

Now here’s where it goes wonky, it only does this maybe 10% of the time but it’s incredibly frustrating

Instead of showing me my texture on the model, the model suddenly scales down very small and turns on flat color with no RGB info

I can still rotate it, move it, and use global deformations on it, however anything requiring me to actually use the cursor on it will only rotate the object, as if I was clicking off of it. Yes, I’m definitely in Edit mode.

It’s definitely not masked, and I checked my brush’s auto masking settings to make sure none of that was applying. I can’t use the transposition options either (rotate/scale/move) but I can change its material or color using fill color and the texture window. Basically, everything that doesn’t require me clicking and directly interacting with my subtool can still be done to the object.

Sometimes if I just close and restart Zbrush it’ll snap out of it and let me interact with it again, but with this particular latest instance it seems to be more stubborn. Another work around I’ve found is starting up a new polymesh and trying to edit that, but that only works sometimes. When that does work, it lets me edit the new polymesh and then suddenly everything is fixed on my other tool, but this time nothing is working.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Check your intensity setting before drawing the subtool. In other words outside of edit mode. If the intensity isn’t 100% it will act that way.

Ah! thank you! Yes, it was set to a lower ZAdd intensity, and that does seem to fix it, HURRAY! This has been driving me crazy!
